“In my career this is one of the single best steps we have taken to improve the quality of our patient services.”
-- Nancy Steiger, then-CEO, San Mateo Medical Center

Our interpreters are trained for health care

The interpreters who provide service via the Network are considered to be among the best in the industry. Among them are many interpreters who have more than ten years of hospital interpreting experience and many who are nationally certified. All are trained, tested, and qualified health care interpreters. All of them meet the requirements of the California Code of Regulations of the Department of Managed Care, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, and the Standards for Patient Centered Communication of the Joint Commission. The ASL interpreters are RID Certified and meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Beverly Treumann, Program and Quality Assurance Director, is a respected interpreter, trainer, and past president of the California Healthcare Interpreting Association. She works with member hospitals to guarantee consistent service quality and promote professional development. Her robust program of interpreter continuing education covers unique challenges such as behavioral health interpreting and interpreting for end-of-life care.

When your hospital or health system joins HCIN, you will enjoy the confidence of knowing your providers and patients are receiving top-quality interpreting—whether the interpreter is in-house or remote.
